The Evzones were elite soldiers of the Greek national army during the XIXth century, and now they have the role of guarding the tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Syntagma Square, just below the Parliament building.

What is written on the wall of the tomb of the unknown soldier is the discourse of Pericles in honour of the dead soldiers fallen for Athens during the Pelopponesian war.

Every hour, the soldiers engage in a highly choreographed ballet when it's time to be replaced by a new pair of soldiers.
